Postal Equine Worm Egg Count by P. L. B.

Services and charges

BASIC WORM COUNT
A ‘faecal worm egg count’ from your horses dung will tell you the number of worm eggs present and help you establish your horses worm burden. This will give you and your vet the confidence to strategically plan a worming program or as a useful tool as part of a chemically reduced worming program. To get the most accurate results it is recommended samples are taken and this test be performed at a time when the effects of the last chemical wormer have worn off and just before you worm again.

REDUCTION TEST
Known as a ‘faecal worm egg reduction test’ and is provided to monitor the effectiveness of your worming product. A ‘Faecal worm egg count’ is performed just prior to worming your horse with your chosen product and once again fourteen days later. This will show if your wormer has been effective. This service is also offered to clients who send in a sample and return a count in excess of 200epg at a reduced rate.

Web site design and construction by Peel Web Designs

It has been bought to our notice that the term 'Paired Sample' is NOT a standard term in equine parasitology, both the process and the term being devised by Dr C Dolby of Newmarket in the UK.The 8-week period used in the paired sample process is not mentioned in published parasitology procedures and to the best of their knowledge is only quoted in their literature and website. We have removed this wording from our site as we do not wish to take credit for any one else's phrasing and apologise to Dr Dolby for doing so.
